The management and staffs of Bhutan Agro Tours do work on small charitable activities such as supporting poor rural students by providing school dress, outfits, food and other consumables to poor families at the hospitals. Similarly, the management would like to extend this opportunity to all those who are interested. There are many travelers who are interested to partake. You could either donate remotely or while in Bhutan. You will get to meet your beneficiaries and see how your small contribution has benefited them in many ways. BE THE AGENT OF CHANGE. A POSITIVE CHANGE.

Why support poor students?

Education in Bhutan is free, fully supported by the government. To avail, parents or children need to pay a bare-minimum fee of about USD 2.00 only/year and a school uniform. Besides, there are other inclusive approaches such as food in boarding schools or day-meal in some day-schools supported by the government and WFP (World Food Programme). Despite such inclusive and wholesome practices, yet there are many children of school-going age out of school because of poverty or broken family or drunkard parents (not able to pay for school uniform or the bare-minimum fee or shy away from crowd because of economic restrictions).

The fund generated will be used to pay their fees, axillaries such as schools dress, toothpaste, books and other necessaries for these children. And this support will not be one-time. Once we identify the beneficiary/ies, the support will be rendered till they graduate from higher secondary school (class 12) in Bhutan.

Why support poor families of patients in various hospitals?

Health Services are free in Bhutan, including ex-country referrals. Thanks to the government. However, there are areas that need support. For example, the sole-bread earner in the family with children, is hospitalized for a long-time; poor patients without any social support; rural patients without families, who are referred to referral hospitals; patients looking for donation to support kidney transplant, etc. There are many such cases that need support.

The fund generated will be used to provide basic necessities such as food ration for patients and attendants, who stay for long duration, tooth brush, paste, juice and other nutritious products. Donation will also be made to people seeking support for transplant and cancer treatment.

Fund Management Modality?

The fund will be managed by a rotating steering committee. Anyone who has donated and is interested work in the committee is welcome. The committee and fund disbursement procedures shall strictly adhere to the principles and guidelines adopted.

The first committee comprises of businessmen, officials from the government and international NGOs who have been independently helping the needy ones in various forms. The members represented here do not in any way represent their organization.
